Claudia Jukic has the secret to maternity dressing
To be completely transparent, this is not our first mention of Claudia. She was the subject of an early blog post a couple of lockdowns ago, and we also shot her cherubic daughter Frederikke for a campaign. So here we go again, because frankly, Claudia is chic. A fashion stylist who worked at both Elle and now Jones Magazine, she is quite literally employed to report on global trends and translate them into wearable looks for the every woman.
Claudia recently welcomed another beautiful baby girl Lotte, and I personally spent her whole pregnancy screen-grabbing the looks. Because, they were good. Very good. She graciously agreed to share her go-to fashion resources for pregnancy and postpartum, as well as some favourites for the girls.
Can you please introduce yourself and your family?
I’m Claudia, a stylist currently on maternity leave raising two little girls (Frederikke, 2.5 and Lotte, 6 months) with my husband Tom.

You just recently welcomed little Lotte to your clan - has the adjustment from one to two been felt?
I wish I had the confidence of second time motherhood the first time around. I feel I’m a calmer and more present mum with two children. Anyone nervous about jumping from one to two, it’s so fun.

How do you steal time away for yourself?
Tom is always encouraging me to sneak away for a hit of pilates, a facial or just to sit at a cafe, scroll The Real Real and eat a canelé. Bliss.
You made pregnancy and postpartum look incredibly chic. Where did you go looking for pregnancy pieces?
A few formulas really worked for me: a silk drawstring maxi skirt tightened under the belly worn with a ribbed tank. My husband's shirts with capri tights and ballet flats. Crinkled silk anything, shift dresses and tanks mostly, as they grow with you. When in doubt, I turned to great outerwear - collarless coats and vintage men’s blazers made me feel polished and are still in high rotation.
Postpartum was all about sets for me like this knitted legging/skirt combo from James Street Co paired with the matching knit button up. And accessories worked overtime; headbands, jewellery and sunglasses can mask any lack of sleep.

Can you talk me through your baby bag? What do you pack for a typical day out with both girls?
Right now there’s a Philé change mat, a bento box of snacks, Bunjie wipes and several dollies.

Your girls dress better than me. Can you give me your 5 most trafficked sources for their wardrobes and accessories?
Hunting for cool kids labels could be a part time job. Currently I’m loving Charco, Bebe Organic, Ziggy Zaza for denim, my friend Carly’s label Magic Mungo… Hello1234 do a great edit as do Smallable. Konges Slojd everything. Arket for basics. And I love a random chemist find for kitsch hair accessories.

Can you talk me through your career a little? And your current role?
I started out in magazines, styling and writing about fashion news - I worked with some industry icons before ending up at an agency where I style campaigns and content for clients.

So much of your role demands creativity and originality - where do you look for inspiration?
Whenever I’m in an inspiration slump, I go through old collections of my favourite designers, schedule a gallery visit and plan holidays, even if they don’t eventuate. The app Amigo is so fun for that.
