Care Instructions
We make beautiful products for your Baby and Home in a responsible and respectful way. Philé pieces are designed to last and we want you to love & use your products for years to come.
To help you look after your products and prolong their lifespan we’ve created a series of product care tips that will ensure your bedding, sleepwear and homewares are looking their best for as long as possible whilst also being gentle on the earth.
Cashmere
Cashmere fibres are soft and hypoallergenic — much like sheep’s wool — but warmer and without the itch. The quality of cashmere is unsurpassed, and it can last a lifetime if cared for properly.
HAND WASH, ALWAYS. Fill your basin or bucket with tepid water and add one capful of gentle detergent per five litres of water. Submerge your cashmere piece entirely and gently swish the item around, then let it sit for 5 minutes. You can then drain the water and refill it with clear tepid water, and let it sit for a couple of minutes before repeating the above steps. Once it’s ready to rinse, place it directly under the tap and allow the room temperature water to gradually wash away the soap until it runs clear.
PRESS TO DRY. When fully drained, clump the cashmere into a loose ball and press it against the side of the tub or bucket to squeeze out excess water. Never wring or twist wet cashmere, as this will stretch the fibres. Lay your cashmere flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
FOLD, DON’T HANG. Store your cashmere pieces folded, as hangers and racks can stretch out the threads and warp the shape.
Use an eco friendly detergent. Some of our favourites are listed at the bottom of this page.
Cotton Gauze
As an open weave we recommend paying special attention to pulling threads. Avoid anything sharp when handling it - rings, nails, zippers etc.
Gentle machine wash separately (again avoid to mix with any items with zips, metal fasteners etc)
We recommend a lukewarm wash 30 degrees celsius (86 degrees fahrenheit) or less as this is the most eco friendly temperature to wash at or below.
Do not leave wet in the machine for a long period of time.
Avoid tumble drying where possible. Not only do dryers consume a high level of energy but they are harsh on your clothes and greatly shorten the lifespan of your linen and textiles.
Line dry your linens whenever possible. Not only is it gentler on your clothes & the planet but sunlight is a natural antibacterial agent and also helps to brighten whites (please note we advise against leaving your linens on the clothes line for an extended as sunlight can bleach colours if left for too long.)
Use an eco friendly detergent. Some of our favourites are listed at the bottom of this page.
OEKO-TEX cotton twill
MACHINE WASH. Separate white, dark, and coloured materials. For best results, wash separately from other fabrics. Wash in cold water using a mild detergent liquid or powder. Do not use hot water as it will shrink pure cotton, and potentially cause some of the dye to leak. Do not soak, wring, bleach, or tumble. Hang to dry.
100% Felt Wool
Finding beauty in imperfection.
Each and every one of our felt products are individually hand made from 100% wool.
Even though artisans make every effort to create only the best, natural blemishes and imperfections are what make each piece unique, captivating and rich in details.
Colours and materials from natural dyes behave differently and although we offer several products of the same style, there are inconsistencies based on the creative nature, making each item look slightly different from the next.
Any item you purchase is one of a kind. There are no two identical items in our shop, and even if the fabric is from the same dye lot, the unique arrangement of colours and choice of patterns will always make each item beautiful on its own.
For liquid spills-
Wool is a naturally resistant material protected by the lanolin that surrounds individual wool fibres, if spills are dealt with quickly, the wool will not absorb much liquid. How to clean. Dab liquid up with damp cloth, repeat with clean damp cloth, let article dry.
For dust and other dirt -
If the article is large and flat it can be vacuumed. If the article is smaller and soiled, gently hand wash in lukewarm water using wool soap.
-Dry away from direct sunlight.
-Do not agitate the article too much during washing as it will promote further felting.
-DO NOT soak, machine wash or put anything in the dryer. This will shrink and distort the item.
-Stuffed toys will take a longer time to dry so make sure the items are fully dry before using them again. It is advised that they be surface cleaned rather than immersed in water.
100% Recycled Nylon
How to Wash Nylon with Stains:
SEPARATE - Sort and separate stained nylon fabrics from other clothing articles as they would require special attention.
ACT FAST - It is always best to treat stains immediately they occur, especially oily stains, as they are yet to set in and so easier to remove.
STAIN REMOVER - Liberally apply an enzyme-based stain remover over the stains and allow them to sit for a bit. Do not attempt to use chlorine bleach to get rid of tough stains to avoid further damage to your fabric. Stains that have already been set into the fabric might require a bit of time for them to be displaced by the stain remover, so you should sort stained clothes and apply the stain remover before you are ready to begin washing.
WASH - If you're washing with a machine, simply add the pre-treated stained material to your wash load, pour in detergent, and continue your washing. To completely get rid of stains, you would need to use a heavy-duty commercial laundry detergent.
How to Wash Nylon by Machine:
SEPARATE - It is advisable to wash clothing items made with nylon material separately. This is because it doesn't require hot water like other materials. In fact, washing your nylon fabric with hot water is highly discouraged to prevent possible ruin and permanent damage.
TURN - After you're done with sorting, turn your bag inside out.
DETERGENT - Use liquid or powdered detergent to wash. Simply add the required amount to cool or warm water. For fabric with oil or other stains, use the heavy-duty variant of this detergent so as to easily get rid of stains. It is recommended to never use either chlorine bleach or its diluted form in a bid to remove stains as they are harmful to nylon fabric.
WASH - Hand-wash or wash in a washing machine at the gentle or regular cycle setting. Do not forget to add a fabric softener to help control static electricity.
DRY - Ideally, nylon should be drip-dried. Hang up and allow to dry from natural air. Nylon dries quickly, so be sure to check on it in 10 to 15 minutes.
Cotton Corduroy
We recommend a gentle, cold machine wash for our cotton corduroy Baby Bags. This is also the most eco-friendly temperature to wash.
