Toad, Mr Badger, Ratty and Moly, as they are known to their friends, are handcrafted from pure wool felt. The handmade nature of each item means it may vary slightly from the photograph, adding to its individual character.

Characters range in size. Each approx. 19cm - 23cm tall.

Papoose Felt is made from pure 100% wool, which makes it a natural water repellent. If spills are dealt with immediately the wool can’t absorb the liquid. If you do need to clean. it, dab the piece with a damp cloth and then let the piece dry away from sunlight.

For dust and other dirt, submerge your wool toy entirely into lukewarm water and diluted wool soap and gently swish the item around, then drain the water and place it directly under the tap and allow the room temperature water to gradually wash away the soap until it runs clear. Do not agitate the article too much during washing as it will promote further felting. Do not soak, machine wash or put anything in the drier.

Papoose Toys are designed in Australia and handmade by talented artisans via fair trade co-operatives based in in Nepal, Sri-Lanka and Indonesia. All Papoose pieces are eco-friendly and fair-trade, designed to support early childhood education, encourage open-ended play, and add colour to our lives.

Toys are made using natural fibres and materials such as wool, cotton, and wood. Wool is a natural and renewable fibre as it grows on sheep, is biodegradable, and can be used as fertiliser due to its high nitrogen content. It is non-allergenic and a natural flame retardant.

Our wood products are polished with food-safe oils to bring out the natural colour in the wood and can simply be re-oiled with coconut oil or any food safe oil if it begins to look tired.
