Brooke Testoni is a force to be reckoned with in the Australian fashion industry. She’s evolved a simple personal style blog into a fully-fledged brand, lending her imitable style (think Gucci paired with vintage slogan tee’s) to high-profile collaborations with Giorgio Armani Beauty and Net-a-Porter X Chloe, and most recently launched her very own luxury handbag label @rylanstudio.
Beyond these hefty fashion credentials however, the creative director/stylist/producer is spending more and more time in the interiors realm. Her appreciation for mid-century furniture resonates especially with us, sharing our affinity for great Italian design.
We sparked up an instagram friendship with Brooke, and she was kind enough to answer some of our questions below…
1. You recently launched 'at home' on your blog, why did you make this move?
I have always been fond of dressing an interior. It was only this year that I decided to do something about it. I am studying interior decoration on the side and have decided to document my interest in interiors going forward on my site. I am relaunching my site in the next coming months, which is very exciting. It will feature a lot more interior like stories on it, and not just mine!
2. What kind of décor style are you drawn to?
Definitely mid-century furniture. I love different woods, organic shapes, velvet, brass and leather.
3. Where do you shop for your home?
A lot of my furniture is designer vintage or even cheap vintage finds. I have always followed the rule, ‘Mix a little old, with a little new.’ But mainly old… haha! My favourite stores would have to be Vampt in Surry Hills, Cadrys, MCM House and Nicholas & Alistair - sorry that’s 4.
4. Where do you look to for inspiration?
Pinterest! I only have Pinterest for that reason. I must say, I don’t really know many good Instagram accounts that are of my interior style. This is why I would like to focus on it a little more!
5. What are you currently working on?
I have my hands in a few projects at the moment. I am relaunching www.brooketestoni.com, studying interior decoration and I have just launched a luxury leather brand (which will also explore home in the future) called Rylan. I think that fashion and interiors go hand in hand.
6. What are you looking forward to?
I am really looking forward to growing Rylan. I would love to see it grow into a concept store where I offer bags, mixed in with pieces for home. I am also really excited to be relaunching my site. It will not be a personal blog, It will be site which features other people, interiors and brands I love. I will definitely be knocking on PHILÉ’s door for a few photos and an interview!
7. What is on your wishlist?
I am on the hunt for a beautiful hand blown ceramic dinner set that has a very organic look. If you know of a brand, please let me know! I have my eye on a few vintage rugs from Cadrys. Oh, and the De Sede Modular Leather Sofa has been on my list for years.
